My gut vs my brain šŸ§

You know those moments where your gut guides you in a direction and, even though it doesnā€™t quite make sense, it just feels right?

Thereā€™s a spark of inspiration that lights you up, energizes and inspires you? You feel excited to share it with everyone?

Thatā€™s the exact moment where my brain decides to step in with a looong list of reasons why itā€™s a bad idea. Why it wonā€™t work. Or, why it wonā€™t work for me.

My brain can be a real downer sometimes. šŸ™„

Like when I first felt inspired to become a massage therapist. A few years prior, a friend of mine was in massage school and I remember thinking, ā€œWhy would she wanna do that?!ā€

And, if you remember from my last newsletter, I hadnā€™t even had a massage before making this big decision.

You can see why it didnā€™t make sense, especially to my family. Which then opened the floodgates to even more doubt.

But, I felt a pull- a deep inner knowing that this was the right path for me.

Fast forward to about a decade later, and I felt that same pull to become a yoga teacher.

Only a few years prior, my employer at the time wanted to send me to yoga teacher training. She felt it would help me more effectively manage the yoga program at our wellness center. I made it clear that I did NOT want to do that.

Yet here I was, several years later, being drawn to it. Again, it didnā€™t make sense and my brain began inserting doubts. But I knew becoming a yoga teacher was the next right step.

Now, with a thriving private massage practice, Iā€™m feeling that pull again. This time, itā€™s towards coaching other massage therapists. And, once again, it doesnā€™t make logical sense. But deep down I know itā€™s my next right move.

Each time Iā€™ve felt inspired to make these big moves, my brain tried to talk me out of it. Keeping me safe in what I know- my comfort zone.

But each time, Iā€™ve reassured my brain that Iā€™ve got this and followed my gut. Even though the direction my intuition was pulling me made no sense to my brain, it never led me astray.

So, how do you know itā€™s your intuition and not just some random thought or idea?

Youā€™ll know itā€™s your intuition when you feel that undeniable pull that makes you feel inspired, creative, and self-expressed. āœØ

You feel lit up and have that deep-in-your-gut knowing that itā€™s aligned with your purpose.

And this inspiration, this pull- itā€™s not always going to pertain to your career, like the examples I gave from my life. It could be that youā€™re inspired to pick up a certain hobby or creative pursuit. You could find yourself drawn to a person or inspired to move to a place that perhaps you never considered before.

What I can tell you is that the more you become present, tune in, and follow these moments of inspiration, the stronger the signal gets. Itā€™s like a muscle that you can strengthen. šŸ’Ŗ

That deep inner knowing is exactly what will lead you to the best places, people and experiences in life.

It might not make sense to your logical brain. But your gut, your intuition KNOWS.

You just have to trust it.
